Letter on Intent Essay For 2 years I have been involved with the fitness industry as a Zumba Fitness Instructor. It has brought people, communities, and entire regions together through dance. Zumba Fitness brightens lives, invigorates souls, and brings good will to all those who attend classes. Now being able to share my love for fitness with the students of Northern Arizona University by enriching their lives with having a great time while exercising is what I look for as in instructor. Though the constant efforts that is behind the fitness program, I want to enhance my professional development as a group fitness instructor by being given the opportunity to learn and grow as an individual. AFAA Primary Group Exercise will help me increase the awareness of fitness education and its benefits to individuals and communities. As our classes increase as a whole, I want to be aware of each individual and their safety is always a priority. I may only have only 2 years in the fitness industry but I believe it is the right time to enhance my knowledge. Zumba fitness brings all types of age ranges to classes and being aware of that is the most important. in the future I would like to keep an open range and explore more formats, but education of fitness is the first thing to do before I can keep opening up opportunities in the fitness industry. Sodium (Na) Sodium has an atomic number of 11 and a mass of about 23g. It is a silvery white-metallic element classified under the alkali metals. Sodium has been known since early times and was used by the people of Mesopotamia and Egypt to make glasses. Sodium is the sixth most common element found on the earth. It is usually not found in nature but more often in compounds such as salt (NaCl). Sodium conducts heat and electricity easily. Without this element life could not exist. Each compound is used for a certain reason. About 2.8 percent of the earth's crust contains this element making it the sixth most common in the earth's crust. Sodium is found in compounds among dry lake beds, underground, and as well as in seawater in such places as: Belarus, China, France, Germany, India, Russia, Ukraine, United Kingdom, and the United States. Sodium is an extremely chemically active element. If combined with water it tends to react vigorously. For example . Since, sodium is such a dangerous element it has to be handled with care and stored airtight meaning without oxygen. Sodium was first extracted into pure form in 1807 by an English chemist known as Sir Humphry Davy. He used the process of electrolysis where an electrical current is passed through a molten sodium compound such as sodium chloride, sodium was first extracted into its pure form. Many manufacturers today still use electricity to obtain sodium. Sodium is still highly manufactured for many industrial and commercial uses. Sodium has commercial us es as well as industrial uses. From soaps to fertilizers, sodium is used to make water softeners, textiles, and is used as well as to relieve stomach acid, sodium bicarbonate: a white crystalline weakly alkaline salt NaHCO 3 used especially in baking 1 powders, fire extinguishers, and medicine. Sodium in its pure form also has industrial uses such as in catalyst which help in making synthetic rubber. Sodium is combined with other metals to produce titanium zirconium and many other chemicals. It is used in the manufacture of tetraethyl lead and some power plants even use it in liquid form to cool nuclear reactors.

The Birth Of Venus

The Birth of Venus is a painting familiar especially to those who know about mythology. Sandra Poetical wanted to show the birth of Venus one of the Greek gods in his own point of view. He demonstrates this by how he painted Venus and whom he painted in the drawing with Venus. He also shows it by the type of media he used and what he painted it on. For this painting, he had used tempera on canvas. His inspiration for painting Venus came about during the Renaissance era. It is one of the first non-biblical female nudes in Italian art (Birth of Venus). Poetical was influenced to paint Venus from reading Homer's Scripts.In particular, one of homer's scripts was about how Crocus had clashed with his father Uranus. During the clash, Crocus emasculates Uranus and because he had done Venus is born. In this work, he shows Venus coming of a shell nude covering her body in a modest way. It would signify not only her birth to a new world but also show humanism. The background of the painting sh ows the ocean which is how she was able to be born in the first place (Botulism's Birth of Venus). Also, he includes Zephyr's, the god of the wind and he is shown holding on to a nymph named Colorist.The wind signifies a guidance so it would make sense to why Zephyr's is in the painting since he leading Venus. Furthermore, he also includes Pomona the goddess of the spring she awaits Venus with a mantle which is blowing in the wind from Zephyr's. It shows how Pomona is welcoming the new goddess. Moreover, he painted Venus in such a beautiful way that it shows that he had studied the subject of the painting. It demonstrates that Poetical had thoroughly thought over about how he would want to present Venus. Thus, Poetical had shown many symbols in his painting that corresponds to Homer's work. The way they are used by the artist is to form specific shapes to tell a story about the goddess Venus. There are a few implied lines are used to create the ocean as to which Venus emerges from, as well as the waves in her hair to show that it has movement. The actual lines are used to create the shapes of the nature and the angels and mother figure that surround Venus. Shape * Mass * Space * Time and Motion Botanical implies time and motion have occurred with the way the figures are slightly angled towards each other. Venus' hair is drawn so that it looks like it is blowing in the wind as she has emerged from the water, while the woman that is standing on land waiting for her is leaning towards her as to cover her with the cloth that she is holding and her feet are positioned so it shows that she is walking.The Angels are drawn to show t hat they are flying towards the goddess as if to welcome her. * Light * Color * The colors that are used were used to create a calming sensation when you coked at the painting. Botanical used mostly blues and greens which create calming nature of the artwork. Which Online Translator Is Best

In 2001 when I first tested online translators it was clear that even the best available werent very good, making serious errors in vocabulary and grammar, many of them that wouldnt be made by a first-year Spanish student. Have online translation services gotten any better? In a word, yes. The free translators seem to do a better job of handling simple sentences, and some of them appear to be making a serious effort to deal with idioms and context rather than translating a word at a time. But they still fall far short of being reliable and should never be counted on when you must correctly understand more than the gist of what is being said in a foreign language. Which of the major online translation services is best? See the results of the experiment that follow to find out. Put to the test: To compare the translation services, I used sample sentences from three lessons in the Real Spanish Grammar series, mostly because I had already analyzed the sentences for Spanish students. I used the results of five major translation services: Google Translate, presumably the most-used such service; Bing Translator, which is run by Microsoft and is also the successor to the AltaVista translation service dating back to the late 1990s; Babylon, an online version of the popular translation software; PROMT, also an online version of PC software; and FreeTranslation.com, a service of the globalization company SDL. The first sentence I tested was also the most straightforward and came from a lesson on the use of de que. All five online translations used fate to translate destino, and thats better than the destiny I used. Google erred only in failing to create a complete sentence, starting out with no doubt instead of there is no doubt or the equivalent. The final two translators encountered a common problem that computer software is more prone to than humans: They couldnt distinguish names from words that needed to be translated. As shown above, PROMT thought Morales was a plural adjective; FreeTranslation changed Rafael Correas name to Rafael Strap. The second test sentence came from a lesson on hacer that I chose partly to see if the character of Santa Claus would still be recognizable from the translations. Googles translation, although flawed, was good enough that a reader unfamiliar with Spanish would easily understood what was meant. But all of the other translations had serious problems. I thought that Babylons attribution of blanca (white) to Santas stomach rather than his beard was inexplicable and thus deemed it the worst translation. But FreeTranslations wasnt much better, as it referred to Santas market of gifts; bolsa is a word that can refer to a bag or purse as well as a stock market. Neither Bing nor PROMT knew how to handle the hospitals name. Bing referred to clear the Santa Hospital, since clara can be an adjective meaning clear; PROMT referred to the Holy Hospital Clara, since santa can mean holy. What surprised me the most about the translations is that none of them correctly translated volvieron. The phrase volver a followed by an infinitive is a very common way of saying that something happens again. The everyday phrase should have been programmed into the translators. For the third test, I used a sentence from a  lesson on idioms  because I was curious if any of the translators would make an attempt to avoid word-for-word translation. I thought the sentence was one that called for a paraphrase rather than something more direct. Original Spanish:  Ã‚ ¿Eres de las mujeres que durante los à ºltimos meses de 2012 se inscribià ³ en el gimnasio para sudar la gota gorda y lograr el ansiado verano sin pareo?My translation:  Are you one of those women who during the final months of 2012 signed up at the gym in order to work up a sweat and get the bikini summer youve been waiting for?Best online translation (Google):  Are you one of the women in the last months of 2012 was registered in the gym to sweat blood and achieve the coveted summer without shorts?Worst online translation (FreeTranslation):  You are of the women that during the last months of 2012 was recorded in the gymnasium to sweat the fat drop and to achieve the desired summer without matching?Ranking (best to worst):  Google, Bing, Babylon, PROMT, FreeTranslation. Although Googles translation wasnt very good, Google was the only translator to recognize the idiom sudar la gota gorda, which means to work extremely hard at something. Bing stumbled over the phrase, translating it as sweat drop fat. Bing did get credit, though, for translating  pareo, an uncommon word, as sarong, its closest English equivalent (it refers to a type of wrap-around swimwear cover-up). Two of the translators, PROMT and Babylon, left the word untranslated, indicating that their dictionaries could be small. FreeTranslation simply picked the meaning of a  homonym  thats spelled the same way. I liked Bings and Googles use of coveted to translate  ansiado; PROMT and Babylon used long-awaited, which is a standard translation and appropriate here. Google got some credit for understanding how  de  was used near the start of the sentence. Babylon inexplicably translated the first few words as Are you a women, showing a lack of understanding of basic English grammar. Conclusion:  Although the test sample was small, the results were consistent with other checks I made informally. Google and Bing usually produced the best (or least worst) results, with Google getting a slight edge because its results often sounded less awkward. The two search engines translators werent great, but they still outperformed the competition. Although Id want to try more samples before making a final conclusion, Id tentatively grade Google a C, Bing a C and each of the others a D. But even the weakest ones would occasionally come up with a good word choice that the others didnt. Except with simple, straightforward sentences using unambiguous vocabulary, you cant rely on these free computerized translations if you need accuracy or even correct grammar. Theyre best used when translating from a foreign language into your own, as when youre trying to understand a foreign-language website. They shouldnt be used if youre writing in a foreign language for publication or correspondence unless youre capable of correcting serious mistakes. The technology just isnt there yet to support that type of accuracy.
